Santuario, 2024
Santuario (Spanish for “sanctuary”) is a large-scale sculptural nest housing a reflective dome. The work explores ideas of shelter, self-reflection, and the construction of home, both physical and internal. Constructed by hand using organic and recycled materials, the nest draws from both human and avian building practices. At its center, a mirrored, egg-like form reflects the surrounding environment and the viewer, positioning them within the work itself. Through this interaction, the piece considers the relationship between refuge, perception, and the interconnectedness of natural and built environments.
